The weight of a bar is its cross-sectional area times its length and material density. A solid rod uses the full section; a pipe uses the annular section.

Given: Weight per metre for a steel solid rod Ø40 mm and a steel pipe Ø60/Ø50 mm.
1) Solid rod Ø40: A = π×40²/4 = 12.57 cm² → m = 9.86 kg/m
2) Pipe Ø60/Ø50: A = π×(60²−50²)/4 = 8.64 cm² → m = 6.78 kg/m
About 7.85 kg/dm³ (7850 kg/m³). Aluminium ≈ 2.70; stainless steel ≈ 8.00 kg/dm³.
A solid rod uses the full circular section (π×d²/4); a pipe uses the annular section with the bore removed (π×(D²−d²)/4).
Multiply the weight per metre (kg/m) by the length of the part (m).
